John Vanderwall

CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder

 

John is CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder of DXR Security LLC. He is a 25-year veteran of the software industry with experience ranging from Marketing Communications, to product management, to tech support.  He has worked for startups and established market leaders.   His experience covers database, communications and security products. Vanderwall has experience building businesses from the ground up and developing go-to-market strategies and sales and marketing channels worldwide

John’s role at HelpSystems was Vice President and Business Unit Manager for Global Security Services. During his tenure at HelpSystems he doubled Global Security Service Revenue over a 5-year period. Prior to HelpSystems, during his time as co-founder, Chairman and CEO of SkyView Partners, the company experienced a 12% annual average growth in security services.  He pivoted the company to a Software as a Service model (SaaS) with the creation of a Managed Security Services offering.  The strength of this offering and the solid growth of security services allowed John to negotiate a sale of the company to HelpSystems at 2.5x of revenue in 2015.  Prior to forming SkyView Partners with Carol Woodbury, John spent two and a half years as a founder of the software division of the IBM i security software firm, PowerTech. In that capacity John served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and was responsible for developing a domestic sales strategy and an international reseller channel as well as a marketing plan to support sales efforts.  In his role there, software sales more than doubled each year.  

John holds a degree in Business Finance from Montana State University and started his career as a technical support analyst for a database software firm.  He quickly progressed to product management and led the development of the flagship product for Microrim.   This product was the primary revenue generator for Microrim prior to its sale.  

Carol Woodbury

President, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder

 

Carol Woodbury is President, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and co-founder of DXR Security. Carol was also Co-founder, President and CTO for SkyView Partners. During this time she was the key driver behind the service and software offerings created by SkyView Partners. She was the architect of the products and services and helped personally deliver them to customers prior to hiring in staff and training them on the solutions. SkyView Partners was sold to HelpSystems in 2015. Carol joined HelpSystems as VP of Global Security Services. While at HelpSystems, Carol was the technical lead for the Security Services team which provided Managed Security Services, Consulting and Remediation services. Carol personally performed consulting engagements around the world as well as provided technical guidance and training for the rest of the team. She also provided sales and marketing support.

Carol left HelpSystems in June 2020. Prior to SkyView Partners, Carol was the Vice President of Development for an IBM i security software firm located in Seattle. She came to Seattle after serving for 10 years as the former IBM i (AS/400) Security Architect and Chief Engineering Manager of Security Technology for IBM's Enterprise Server Group. In addition to her considerable consulting and software architecting talents, she is also an award-winning and internationally recognized speaker and writer on IBM i security. She has authored several books addressing IBM i security and is the only author with commercially available books dedicated to the topic.  She also writes technical articles for several industry publications. Carol has been named an IBM Champion since 2018 and holds her CISSP, CRISC and PCIP security certifications.

Woodbury has a B.S. in computer science and started her technology career as a system tester for IBM in Rochester, MN. She established programming for several areas of the OS/400 operating system before moving into the role as OS/400 security team leader and her career at IBM as the IBM i Chief Engineering Manager for Security which was responsible for establishing direction, guiding the security team and becoming the chief spokesperson and representative for IBM for IBM i security world-wide. Carol is a co-inventor of two patents developed during her IBM tenure and she is responsible for many of the enhancements and security features that IBM still uses as part of the i5/OS operating system today.
